A large, attractive, free-standing chalet with a relaxed approach. Unpretentious but well-designed with warm woods and stone walls mirroring the landscape. Comfortable and welcoming. That’s Chalet Pousse Caillou in essence.

It is centrally located in the Musillon area of Meribel at the end of a little cul de sac. Here you find privacy and peace, as well as beautiful views over the valley, only five to ten minutes’ walk from the centre of town.

Chalet Pousse Caillou incorporates 230 thoughtfully laid out square metres. A party of up to fourteen guests can enjoy each other’s company content in the knowledge that they can also escape. All five double bedrooms (three convert to twins) are spacious and each has a bath or shower room. Accommodation is especially family friendly as, from two of the bedrooms, there is access to a twin bedroom for children. Both these rooms have that element of fun that will charm young skiers and little snowboarders. One, under a sloping roof, is directly off the main bedroom. The other requires climbing a ladder staircase.

The open-plan living space is light and bright with floor to ceiling windows out to a wide terrace. Here you find that little luxury that has gone onto the essentials list for many chalet holiday parties – the outside hot tub. Its popularity is understandable. Connection with nature, starry nights, that delicious combination of crispy air and steaming water. Maybe hopping barefoot clad only in a swimsuit across a snow covered terrace. The bliss of a ski holiday.

Back inside, the fire blazes in the hearth and the aroma of another divine dinner wafts from the kitchen where your private chef is busy. The chalet host is bringing canapés and offering aperitifs and setting the long timber table that will seat everyone comfortably even if you have filled the chalet to capacity. If you have temporarily mislaid the children, the chance is that you will find them on the floor below occupying the TV room with its big screen, sofas and ambiance of a cosy den. A fun place to hang out away from the adults even with the TV unplugged. But time to call them to dine. These gourmet chalet dinners are provided on five days of the week, along with afternoon tea and a full breakfast. The other two days you don’t have to fret over seeking fresh croissants as a continental breakfast will be served.  

The nearest ski lift, La Chaudanne, is about 1km away. Setting off in the morning will be no stress as a driver service is available every day between 08:00 and 20:00. Which is also nice to know as you reach the village as the pistes start to close for the night, especially if that last run ends with a bit of après ski.
