The mountains are calling your name. One mountain in particular, the Matterhorn, calls that little bit louder, her pitch that bit sharper, carrying it across the surrounding hillsides, across countries and seas in fact, all the way to your desk on a grey Friday afternoon. One more sleep.
As you arrive in resort the following day and step off the train, you catch your first glimpse of her in the flesh, towering above Zermatt ever watching and standing guard. This first sighting is only improved as you now gaze upon her from the balcony of Chalet Aria, glass of champagne in hand; you made it.
Your home for the week is filled with creature comforts, and perfectly positioned to enjoy the spoils of Zermatt to the max. Just a 2-minute saunter from the front door and you will find yourself in the centre of the peaceful car-free town, gazing upon the iconic Kirchplatz. Pop in to Elsie’s bar for a cocktail or some oysters, it’s a Zermatt institution after all. Stroll down the Bahnhofstrasse and browse the fashion boutiques and pick up delicious hand made chocolates or a piece of sacher torte from Fuchs bakery.
Zermatt offers so much more more than the average ski holiday, and you want to experience it all. Your helpful chalet concierge team is there to ensure that you do; they pre-book your lift passes, assist with ski hire and arrange restaurant bookings across the week so you only need arrive and immediately the vacation begins. Chalet Aria is the perfect space in which to pass a stylish and entertaining week – or two if you can spare them.
The interiors are the perfect balance of traditional Alpine charm, and sleek modern design. A log burner with towering stone chimneybreast takes centre stage in the vast open plan living and dining area. Double height ceilings and huge picture windows make this a light, bright and airy space to spend quality time in. Two chesterfield armchairs in rich mahogany-coloured leather give a classical opulence to the room and are the perfect spot for warming your toes by the fire with a glass of wine and a good book.
For further indulgence head to the ground floor, and take a soak in the outdoor Jacuzzi which can be booked privately when you’re ready for some ‘me time’. Better still, book a massage in the treatment room also located on the ground floor and treat your legs to some serious therapy ready to head back up the mountain. There’s a gym here too – but that can wait, can’t it?
Each bedroom, individually and tastefully styled, offers private space when you need it, with flat screen TV’s and huge luxurious bathrooms. Holidays are about spending quality time together though, and you will revel in this both on and off the mountain. You reach the ski lifts in two minutes by the handy electric ski bus which stops outside your door, and no time is wasted exploring the exciting slopes – and restaurants - on the Swiss and Italian side of resort. The verdict; the pasta at Chez Eoile in Cervinia is really unbeatable, but Chez Vrony on the Swiss side takes the points for the best Matterhorn view.
For the foodies among you taking the catered package in Chalet Aria is a great decision; you can enjoy watching the talented chef at work whilst enjoying a glass of Champagne, and even pick up some handy tips. Both cuisine and wine are of the highest quality, and can be tailored to your own preferences. The team of professional chalet staff will ensure that everyone in the group is taken care of and will go the extra mile to ensure you take home special memories of your time in Zermatt and Chalet Aria.
