In a recent news feature that was published on the ‘A Luxury Travel Blog’ website I wrote about the state of the luxury ski chalet world and about how it’s competitive streak is redefining what constitutes the ultimate luxury ski accommodation. In that feature I mused about where it was all leading too, in terms of luxury features, I speculated about what would be the next luxury element to up the ante and set the standard for others to follow. Amongst those possible future features I half joked about a heli-pad on the roof, well blow me down and tickle me with a feather, Chalet Mont Blanc has a heli-pad, not on the roof, but nevertheless it actually has a its own heli-pad, just as I predicted, and without the aid of a crystal ball. Actually it didn’t take much insight to guess that heli-pads would feature in the near future as helicopter transfers have become more and more appealing to eager skiers. Why spend two hours in a car, even if it is a luxury limo, when you can get to your luxury ski accommodation in a fraction of the time and be on the slopes while the chauffeur of said limo is still miles away from the climb up to resort.
Chalet Mont Blanc is far from a one trick pony, the heli-pad is just the start of what this truly spectacular chalet has to offer. Not content with an outdoor, heated infinity pool that overlooks Megeve, Mont Blanc has an indoor pool too. Any luxury ski chalet worthy of the name would have a spa and a well equipped gym, Mont Blanc delivers. A home cinema? of course! A wine cellar and state of the art entertainment technology are also features long considered essential, Mont Blanc delivers here too. A cocktail lounge on the heated outdoor terrace is a cool feature that can be enjoyed, this also overlooks Megeve and although even a modest ski chalet probably has a balcony to enjoy, the Mont Blanc version is pretty special. The indoor garage in the basement is big enough for a game of five-a-side football, it can house twelve vehicles and has a professional car wash to keep those Ferrari’s, BMW’s and Merc’s in pristine condition.
Interior decoration is subjective and very personal but no one could argue that the interiors in Chalet Mont Blanc are anything less than lavish, sumptuous and stylish. Space is usually at a premium in any construction, this consideration didn’t seem to trouble the architects and owners of Mont Blanc, they erred on the side of spaciousness and to good effect, there’s more than enough room for the sixteen guests that Mont Blanc can accommodate. The interiors are voluminous, the huge windows flood light into the living areas further enhancing the sense of roominess. Chalet Mont Blanc impressed us very much and is vying for a place the SkiBoutique Top 20 Luxury Ski Chalets.
If heli-pads become passe, which will probably happen at some point
in the future, I predict landing strips for private planes? You read it here first folks.
