The Falcon Lodge appears as a cluster of high-end chalets nestled into the mountainside. However, within its privileged domain, you find a collection of apartments, many of them more akin to luxury chalets than any ordinary holiday flat. Their guests are further indulged with the services and facilities of a 5-star hotel even while they enjoy the autonomy of their own space.

It is situated in the Morel area around 500m from the centre of Méribel, on the road that winds up to the Altiport. Morel has its own shops and bars and, importantly in our eyes, its own access to the skiing of the Trois Vallées. The Morel chairlift takes you up to the Altiport in the morning and your last run of the day is the blue piste (Hulotte) from the Altiport back down to Morel.

The very largest apartment in Falcon Lodge accommodates up to 20 guests, but the others fall within a wide range with lots of options for parties of 4 to 13. Many of them are very children friendly, with bunkbed rooms and cabins as well as traditional doubles. They are all individually designed in an attractive modern Alpine style but share the same flair for bringing together high-quality and a very practical attention to detail. Many have fireplaces with flames to light up your evenings (of which some are of the gas powered variety, others that burn wood). The whole gamut of top-end chalet facilities is scattered among the options – there are apartments with saunas or hot tubs on terraces, there are bar areas with a billiard table, another has a private fitness room, there are cinema rooms in some, or even the absolute treat of a spa area with a very pretty pool.

As if this wasn’t enough, there is a beautiful “wellness” in the residence with treatment rooms, Hammam, sauna and a pool. Each apartment has a private parking space in the underground car park where your car can probably stay if you have driven to the Alps - the Residence offers a private shuttle service to the lifts (an yet it is only 150m from the Morel chairlift) or into town. Whichever apartment you choose, it will be south facing to towards the sort of mountain views that stay in your mind’s eye long after the holiday is over.
