Do you strive for the best in all you do? A purveyor of the finest things in life, collector of mind-blowing experiences and an avid ski enthusiast? Val D’Isère is high on the list then, and Chalet Lhotse should be your next target. Firmly in your sights you hunt her down, and now find yourself drawing up outside her striking exterior, cave-like entrance lit blue, beautifully hand carved door opening in welcome. Step into your dream vacation.
Set in the very heart of Val D’Isère you will waste no time exploring the fashion boutiques, award winning patisseries and chic bars on offer. The ski lifts are just a good snowball’s throw away, but your VIP service will see you arrive with no exertion on your part, chauffeur driven, legs fresh to attack the mountain. That is if you can bring yourself to leave Chalet L’Hotse at all.
This beautiful chalet is a real one off, lavishly furnished, exceptional facilities and a service to match. Your army of professional staff will leave no stone unturned to ensure that you have a unique and magical stay. Though centrally located L’Hotse feels exclusive, and private. Understated is perhaps not a word best suited to this Aladin’s cave of a property. Outré perhaps, and most of all; fun.
It’s no joke at all that you may struggle to find time to ski with everything on offer here; a designer pool with jet streams, candlelit and surrounded by luxurious, fur-covered day beds. A Jacuzzi here too, and a sauna and hamam. Should you perhaps be in training for your next big adventure race there is a fully equipped gym here too, a massage room for intense sports massages to aid recovery – or luxurious hot stone and Swedish massages if you prefer. Does your tan need a top up? There is a solarium too, of course.
You may prefer though to be out in the fresh, crisp mountain air. Take a soak in the out-door, cedar wood hot tub; lie back eyes closed taking in the sounds and smells of the Alps with a glass of chilled champagne and simply drift away. Tear yourself away from this blissful reverie and head back inside to curl up on the cowhide sofas before the roaring log fire. This vast living space is all alpine charm; pitched vintage wood ceiling, furs and animal hides and subtle lighting create an intimate and romantic ski chalet ambiance.
A Grand piano lifts this space to a whole new level, and there is a drop down screen here – and in the pool room – to create your own in-house cinema. Enjoy movie nights in style, chef can provide home made nachos and fresh popcorn too. For quieter moments the charming TV snug on a separate mezannine level is ideal. You can send the kids here too for their own chill-out space – leaving you some peace and quiet in the sitting room – or perhaps the glorious bar with it’s hand-carved front and characterful animal hide stools.
For the food lovers amongst you prepare to be truly spoilt and indulged as your chef weaves his magic in the kitchen. Feast on canapés before the fire, and lavish dinners in the extravagant dining room, where you sit upon plush velvet-covered chairs, cascading chandelier twinkling above you. These meals are fine tuned to your personal tastes; enjoy tasting menus, local specialties or family favourites; this castle is your home, and you’re in charge.
If you do make it out onto the mountain – go on, it really is worth it – then you will benefit from excellent advice from your personal chalet manager and chauffeur. Armed with this local knowledge and the day’s weather conditions you are all set for spectacular days of skiing, topped by the best tables at the best mountain restaurants and in the VIP area at Folie Douce for their legendary après ski entertainment. This place is a must-see, and the place to be seen; only the best will do.
