No ski trip is complete with the addition of three new members to the family. Last year it was the troop of marmots from Méribel, this year it’s a pack of St. Bernard’s that are keeping the children entertained in their den, sorry, triple room. Bed times and calm went out of the window when you arrived on Sunday. Another toy is launched from the top bunk amid squeals of joy and energy that only a child can muster after a day on the slopes.
It’s ok. Let Le Daray Penthouse help you find equilibrium. Make yourself comfy on the sun-drenched terrace and let the panoramic views of the surrounding peaks instil calm. As the sun dips, a shiver of fresh mountain air runs through you and it’s time to nestle into one of the armchairs surrounding the traditional fireplace.
The rabble clatters round the corner, St Bernards in tow. Did someone mention early kid’s supper? Your host for the week is already on it - the table is laid for six, well; the children’s new four legged companions need to join them as well.
Tummies full, eyelids drooping and energy levels finally crashing, bed time signals the start of your time. Once again, your host has performed miracles. The final bedtime story read, you return to the large open plan living room. Lighting dimmed, candles flickering, fire crackling and a platter of the most moreish canapés awaiting you. It’s your time now and nothing is going to get in the way of that first refreshing sip of champagne.
After another delicious four-course dinner with that opulent vintage, it’s time to retire. Wait, how did Holly manage to fit in turndown service as well? Sinking into your master double just got that little bit easier. Sleep won’t be far away.
Rejuvenated and ready, another day of ski lessons awaits (you’ve never seen Henry improve so quickly) and time for you to ski and be seen. After your fill of skiing, shopping and lunch, maybe it’s time to up the anti with a spot of Ice Karting. Splendid for bringing the “boy racer” out of your husband as well as channelling the children’s energy from post-ski school chocolats chauds. When your faces ache from another day of smiling and laughing so much and with your legs telling you it’s that time of day, you can rely on your driver to whisk you home. The kids can take the stairs. You’ll gratefully accept the help of the elevator. That may be another day on Verbier’s slopes done but returning home to Le Daray does not signal the end of your day. This stunning penthouse, combining traditional alpine features with modern luxury, is ready to greet you for the next chapter of today.
You wish weeks like this could go on forever.
Please Note: The chalet is self-catered although in low season weeks it is possible to add catered services
